Programme Overview<\/h4>\n

The MSc offers postgraduate students three different pathways to graduate. The first pathway contains an internship (professional practice) which is geared towards newer graduates seeking to apply their skills in a real-world setting, in line with programmes internationally. The second pathway contains a research paper (independent and desktop studies) which is geared towards working professionals seeking to enhance their professional skillset. The third pathway contains a research project which is geared towards postgraduate students who are interested in pursuing a research career with the major outcome of the pathway being the production of a detailed master\u2019s level research project\/thesis.<\/p>\n

\u2212 The completion of the MSc Internship pathway will require the completion of seven (7) core courses including the Internship core course and two (2) elective courses.
\u2212 The completion of the MSc Research Paper pathway will require the completion of seven (7) core courses including the Research Paper core course and two (2) elective courses.
\u2212 The completion of the MSc Research Project pathway will require the completion of seven (7) core courses including the 12 credit Research Project course<\/p>\n

Entry Requirements<\/h4>\n

Eligible applicants for the programme may possess:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. A bachelor\u2019s degree in geography, environmental sciences, environmental studies, natural sciences, engineering, agricultural sciences, or related degree or an appropriate social science or humanities discipline from a recognized University with at least lower second-class honours or equivalent or a minimum GPA of 2.5 or<\/li>\n
  2. At least 5 years professional experience in an equivalent discipline e.g. environmental management, environmental consulting, sustainable development, disaster risk management, policy development, climate change.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    An applicant not considered suitable for direct admission may be advised to select specific undergraduate geography courses in order to get sufficient background knowledge to apply for the MSc. This will be assessed on a case-by-case basis<\/p>\n
