JOB DESCRIPTION<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The Faculty of Food and Agriculture invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Knowledge Management and Communications Officer (KMCO)<\/strong>: REBYC-III CLME+ and EAF4SG FAO Projects<\/strong> being implemented by The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n

BACKGROUND<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Project Title: REBYC-III CLME+<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Strategies, technologies, and social solutions to manage bycatch in tropical Large Marine Ecosystem Fisheries (REBYC-III CLME+).<\/strong>
Project budget: USD 5.3 million<\/strong>
Project duration: 48 months<\/strong><\/p>\n

The objective of the REBYC-III CLME+ project is to manage bycatch and reduce discards in the Caribbean and North Brazil Shelf Large Marine Ecosystems (CLME+), thereby promoting sustainable and responsible fisheries that provide economic opportunities while ensuring the conservation of marine living resources, and supporting country implementation of the CLME+ SAP (particularly Strategies 2, 3 and 5).<\/p>\n

Participating countries: Barbados, Guyana, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Project Title: EAF4SG<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Enhancing capacity for the adoption and implementation of Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF) in the shrimp and groundfish fisheries of the North Brazil Shelf Large Marine Ecosystem (EAF4SG).<\/strong>
Project budget: USD 1.7 million<\/strong>
Project duration: 48 months<\/strong><\/p>\n

The objective of the EAF4SG project is to advance adoption and implementation of the Ecosystem Approach to Fisheries (EAF) in the shrimp and groundfish fisheries in the North Brazil Shelf Large Marine Ecosystem (NBSLME), supporting implementation of the CLME+ Strategic Action Programme, specifically Strategy 6.<\/p>\n

Participating countries: Guyana, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.<\/strong><\/p>\n

TENURE OF CONTRACT<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The post of Knowledge Management and Communications Officer will be for an initial period of one (1) year<\/strong>, extendable to two (2) years<\/strong> after review.<\/p>\n

DUTY STATION<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Trinidad & Tobago (UWI Project Management Unit), with travel as required.<\/p>\n

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The successful candidate must possess an advanced university degree in journalism, communications, public relations, or a related field.<\/strong><\/p>\n
