The project\u2019s objective is \u201c<strong>To have nature-positive development and increased food security in Trinidad and Tobago, including NbS, that halt current land degradation trends, increase biodiversity and provide resilience to climate change impacts in the long run<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tenure of Contract:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The post of\u00a0<strong>Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist<\/strong> will be for an initial period of one year, extendable to four years after review.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duty Station:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Trinidad &amp; Tobago (UWI Project Management Unit), with travel as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applicants must be nationals of Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Tasks<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Under the direct supervision of NTPC\u00a0and with the support of the\u00a0UWI, the\u00a0Environmental and Social Safeguards\u00a0(ESS)\u00a0Specialist\u00a0will\u00a0be responsible for\u00a0providing relevant technical guidance and support to ensure\u00a0that ESS are adequately addressed during project implementation.\u202f In particular,\u00a0the incumbent\u00a0will perform the following main tasks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure implementation and monitoring of the\u00a0ESMP\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0project;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Guidelines for the incorporation of nature-based solutions and the valuation of ecosystem goods and services in the environmental management models of the selected\u00a0locations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Summary report on the implementation of the risk mitigation\u00a0plan;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Compilation\u00a0of the main sustainable practices applicable to the local contexts inserted in the\u00a0project;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Elaborate the Annual Report of environmental and social safeguards of the\u00a0Project;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Support inputs into\u00a0ToRs\u00a0for implementing\u00a0staff;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in PSC meetings and provide updates on the\u00a0ESS\u00a0in the project, as\u00a0required;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Participate in the terminal evaluation of the project, including assisting with compiling relevant\u00a0ESS\u00a0information\u00a0and status of the\u00a0ESMP;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide\u00a0relevant technical guidance to the project as\u00a0required.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Minimum\u00a0Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Professional\u00a0university graduate. Training in Agronomy, Forestry, Environmental, or others related to the\u00a0objective\u00a0of this recruitment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>General technical skills and experience<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum\u00a05\u00a0years of proven professional experience in the agricultural and\/or environmental\u00a0sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Good knowledge of FAO and GEF environmental and social safeguards mechanisms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Good knowledge of database management and information processing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Good relations with national institutions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience in preparation and\/or execution of projects with international organizations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Drafting of technical reports according to UN quality standards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
