The project\u2019s objective is \u201c<strong>To have nature-positive development and increased food security in Trinidad and Tobago, including NbS, that halt current land degradation trends, increase biodiversity and provide resilience to climate change impacts in the long run<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Natural Capital Strategist and Facilitator (NCSF) will lead the strategic development and institutionalization of natural capital accounting within national planning and policy frameworks. The NCSF will also focus on translating the technical outputs produced by the Natural Capital Specialist into policy instruments, institutional frameworks and national planning mechanisms. The NCSF will coordinate stakeholder engagement, facilitate technical activities, support data collection, and ensure effective communication among project partners, national institutions, and communities. The NCSF will support operationalization of natural capital accounting within government decision-making systems, national development planning and sectoral policies. The Natural Capital Strategist and Facilitator will work closely with the Natural Capital Specialist, the GHG Inventory Specialist, the National Technical Project Coordinator, the Project Management Unit and other relevant national stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Tenure of Contract:<\/strong><\/span><span> \u00a0<\/span>210 Days<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Duty Station:<\/strong><\/span><span> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Trinidad &amp; Tobago (UWI Project Management Unit), with travel as\u00a0required.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong><\/span><span> <\/span><span>Applicants must be nationals of Trinidad and Tobago.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Tasks<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Under the direct supervision of NTPC and with the support of the UWI, the Natural Capital Strategist and Facilitator will be responsible for providing relevant technical guidance and support for Component 1. In particular, the incumbent will perform the following main tasks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Review the project document and related materials to become familiar with the design and objectives of the Bio Resilience Project.<\/li>\n<li>Provide strategic direction and coordination for the integration of Natural Capital Accounting (NCA) into national development planning frameworks<\/li>\n<li>Support:<\/li>\n<li>Output 1.1.1-Roadmap for National Natural Capital Accounting Developed<\/li>\n<li>Output 1.1.2- Pilot Land Cover and Carbon Assessment, valuation and accounting completed at a selected project site<\/li>\n<li>Output 1.1.3- Increase in Value Estimated for Intervention Areas under component 2<\/li>\n<li>Output 1.1.4-Data Integrated into National Environmental Information Systems<\/li>\n<li>Develop national policy guidance for integrating natural capital accounting into public sector planning and budgeting processes<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate engagement and policy dialogue on natural capital accounting with national stakeholders including government agencies, research institutions, NGOs and community groups<\/li>\n<li>Lead the organization of field visits, workshops, consultations and technical meetings related to natural capital accounting<\/li>\n<li>Produce deliverables according to the project document under Component 1<\/li>\n<li>Identify opportunities to integrate ecosystem valuation into economic planning, investment decision-making and national reporting frameworks<\/li>\n<li>Develop institutional arrangements for long-term implementation of Natural Capital Accounting in Trinidad and Tobago<\/li>\n<li>Support the translation of technical ecosystem accounting outputs into policy-relevant decision-support tools<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the collection, compilation and organization of environmental and socioeconomic data required for natural capital accounting, led by the Natural Capital Specialist<\/li>\n<li>Assist national institutions in participating in project activities related to ecosystem accounting and valuation<\/li>\n<li>Maintain records of stakeholder consultations, meetings, training activities and contribute to project progress reports and monitoring documentation<\/li>\n<li>Prepare coordination reports on environmental data management and collaboration<\/li>\n<li>Perform other duties as required to support implementation of natural capital accounting activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<h4><strong>Minimum Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Education<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Advanced university degree (Master\u2019s or higher) in Environmental Economics, Ecological Economics, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Forestry, Climate Science or a closely related field. A Doctorate will be considered an asset.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General technical skills and experience<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum 5 years of proven professional experience in the agricultural and\/or environmental sector.<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of FAO and GEF environmental and social safeguards mechanisms.<\/li>\n<li>Good knowledge of database management and information processing.<\/li>\n<li>Specialized training or academic background in Natural Capital Accounting, ecosystem accounting or environmental-economic accounting (e.g. SEEA framework).<\/li>\n<li>Good relations with national institutions.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in preparation and\/or execution of projects with international organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Drafting of technical reports according to UN quality standards.<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
