FREN 2607 Post Romantic French Poetry


Pre-requisites: FREN 1600 or FREN 1601

(Offered in alternate years with FREN 2605)

A study of Poetry in the postromantic period of the 19th century, examining the movement from Romanticism through symbolism to the beginnings of Surrealism. Particular emphasis will be placed on the works of Baudelaire, Verlaine and Rimbaud.

Method of Instruction: 2 lectures and 1 tutorial per week
Assessment:
40% in-course assessment (2 coursework assignments - 30% and 1 exposé/class participation - 10%), 60% final examination
