LING 2105 Language Development and Language Learning Disabilities (2)

Pre-requisites: LING 2101

This course offers an introductory survey of the range of language and learning disabilities, and will equip participants with a basic understanding of these conditions, and their symptoms. It is part of a larger Certificate programme and a Minor in Speech and Language Pathology, which will provide the community with persons sufficiently cognisant of language disabilities and their manifestations as to be able to take the appropriate identification measures, to make referrals and assist in intervention strategies. This course targets parents, social workers, nurses, educators, and undergraduate students who are or will be teachers/researchers/consultants in language development.

Method of Instruction: 2 lectures and 1 tutorial per week

Assessment: 50% in-course assessment, 50% final examination
