STUDY AND WORK ABROAD

Study Abroad enhances the value of your degree and expands your world view! Study Abroad is an invaluable and life-changing experience. It is the optimal way to learn a language. There are many promising offers of new study abroad opportunities in the near future. We advise and prefer that you have a study abroad experience in a country specific to the language of your study.
We recognise that any study abroad experience enhances the student experience, provides educational opportunities which are vast, and is one of the most rewarding experiences. To this end you may choose to spend your third and/or fourth semester at one of our other UWI campuses at Cave Hill or Mona. You may also choose from numerous other universities with which we have institutional links - in Canada, the USA or a host of other countries. For further information, please visit the International Office.
At The UWI, St Augustine, we offer several options with partner institutions. At present we offer the following opportunities:
Undergraduate French students can opt to complete part of their Bachelor’s degree in French at a French university. There are two main Study Abroad programmes offered to second year undergraduates:
(i) a year-long programme at the Université Michel de Montaigne (Bordeaux III) - offered annually to three UWI undergraduates in Year 2 of the BA in French.
(ii) a semester-long programme the Université des Antilles (UA), Schoelcher, Martinique - open to five UWI undergraduates in Semester 2 of Year 2 of the BA in French.
Students in both programmes choose courses that are equivalent to UWI Level II French courses, and write examinations at Bordeaux III and their results are credited towards their BA degree at UWI. Participating students are exempt of fees at UAG and Bordeaux but pay for flights and accommodation.
A two-week immersion language/culture programme is organised in Guadeloupe every summer by Contact et Recherche Caraïbe (CO.RE.CA) and the Department of Liberal Arts. The programme has two main aims: to strengthen students’ language skills and to promote a greater awareness of French Caribbean culture. This programme includes language classes in the mornings and cultural visits and excursions in the afternoons and on weekends. Accommodation is provided in Guadeloupe by UA in week 1 and by host Guadeloupean families in week 2 of the programme.
See below for Work Abroad opportunities in France.

Our students have chosen to study at Mona, Cave Hill, UAG Schoelcher, UAG Fouillole, Brasília, U of British Columbia, U of Laval, U of Montréal, U of Toronto, U of York (Canada), Fiji, Freiburg and many other universities. Go to the websites of our sister campuses, Cave Hill and Mona, for an overview of their programmes and courses. Students majoring in Latin American Studies or minoring in International Relations, with a strong interest in Brazil and the Portuguese language, may consider going to the programme's original partner, the Universidade de Brasília (UnB) in Brazil, or the University's newest partners, the Universidade de São Paulo (USP) in Brazil or the Universidade do Porto (UPorto) in Portugal, or any of the following universities:
1. Centro Universitário Vila Velha (UVV)
2. Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP)
3. Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUC-SP)
4. Universidade Estadual da Bahia (UNEB)
