The French Programme will enable students to learn more about the socio-cultural and political realities, historical foundations, development, and position in the world of both metropolitan France and the Francophone world. Students will develop independent, analytical reading and reasoning from the Programme through the study of Literature, Film, Media and philosophical notions.<\/p>\n

Applicable skills<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of the French language in all four modalities: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. Students will learn to think and analyse texts critically.<\/p>\n

Industry links<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Department through the French Section regularly hosts international conferences, visiting lecturers, and authors from abroad. We work closely with the Alliance Fran\u00e7aise in Trinidad and often organise events for Francophonie week. The nearest French Embassy is in St Lucia.<\/p>\n

    All of our final-year students need to complete a year-long research project on a Caribbean-related topic. Research Days are organised regularly to encourage students to present their research as well as to get the opportunity to discuss with researchers and authors.<\/p>\n
