jenise-tyson.jpgMs. Jenise Tyson is currently the Monitoring & Evaluation Officer at the Health Policy, Research & Planning Department at the Ministry of Health in Trinidad and Tobago. She has been working in the health sector for over 9 years, during which time she has been primarily involved in research and national policy-formulation.

At her current position, she is responsible for national health planning, supporting the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of interventions, and the formulation of evidence briefs to inform policy. She is currently a member of Trinidad and Tobago’s Joint National Steering Committee for the UN Multi-country Sustainable Development Framework (UNMSDF).

While she has spent most of her working career in health, her educational background is based in the natural sciences, as she possesses Bachelor Degrees in Geography and Marine Biology, and a Master’s Degree in Environmental Management. Ms. Tyson is dedicated to continuous learning as she has completed post-graduate studies at the University of Derby in the UK, the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine and the Arthur Lok Jak Global School of Business.

With a strong base in both health and the environment, her work is now focused on blending the two fields and exploring the increasing linkages between public health and the changing environment. She has now begun to take on a leadership role as the de-facto focal point for environmental issues within the Department of Health Policy, Research & Planning. It is Ms. Tyson’s goal to effect change at the policy level through advocacy and awareness.
