Jessica loves all things nutrition! She is curious about the varying factors that influence nutrition and health and, the impact of nutrition at the individual and community level. Her research interests include maternal and child health and nutrition, diet quality and micronutrient status. She has been a Registered Dietitian for more than 10 years and holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics and a Diploma in Institutional and Community Nutrition and Dietetics (UWI, Trinidad). Her postgraduate training includes a Master of Science in Food and Nutrition Security (Universidad Veracruzana, Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico); Public Health Research and Research Methodology (Erasmus Medical Centre, Rotterdam, Netherlands); Systematic Reviews in Nutrition for Global Policymaking (Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, USA); Crisis and Mass Disaster Management (Nazareth, Israel); Disaster Risk Financing for Small Island Developing States (CCRIF/University of the West Indies) and Acute Food Security Analyst (FAO/IPC). Jessica’s career focus is on public health initiatives surrounding food insecurity, sustainable food systems and nutrition, emergency preparedness and systemic disaster and crisis management. In her capacity as Nutrition Consultant /Food Security Specialist, Jessica presently functions in the area of Programme and Policy, and, she is the current President of the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Nutritionists and Dietitians.
