Lucy Cumberbatch is a qualified public health professional with over fifteen years of experience working in the health sector in Guyana.
She is currently the Program Manager for the health project at the Peace Corps Guyana Office. The project she oversees aims to enhance the health and wellbeing of Adolescents in Guyana and focuses on supporting adolescents’ access to life skills education and youth friendly health services.
Before joining Peace Corps, Guyana Lucy worked as a Laboratory Technologist before moving to the Ministry of Health where she functioned as the National Health Promotion Coordinator for almost 10 years.
Lucy completed her undergraduate qualifications in Medical Laboratory Technology at the University of Guyana and her Master’s in Public Health (international) as a JJ/WBGSP scholar at Leeds University, UK and is currently pursuing further graduate studies in Public Health.
Lucy also has over 10 years of volunteer experience as a member of the Rotaract Club of Georgetown and serving in various committees regionally and locally which included club president.
Lucy is passionate about health systems strengthening and recognizes its importance in ensuring that universal health coverage is achieved. To this end she focuses her efforts on participating in the development and implementation of programs that address the determinants of health including climate change which have significant impact on individual’s health and wellbeing.
