Nayan Persaud currently serves as the Principal Environmental Health Officer at the Ministry of Health, Guyana. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role, having earned a degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Guyana. His academic pursuits continued at Rushford Business School in Geneva, Switzerland, where he completed a Master’s in Environment and Sustainable Management. Additionally, Nayan holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Environment and Sustainability from IGNOU University in India and a Master’s Certificate in Healthcare Leadership from the University of York's Schulich School of Business.
Nayan is deeply passionate about addressing the impacts of climate change on health and is dedicated to implementing sustainable practices within the healthcare sector. He is currently the Climate Change and Health focal point in Guyana. His commitment to integrating climate resilience into health policies ensures a healthier and more sustainable future for all.
As an active member of the Guyana Youth and Environment Network, Nayan loves working with youths on environmental issues. He believes in empowering the younger generation with knowledge and tools to tackle environmental challenges, fostering a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the planet. Through his work with the network, Nayan engages with youths, promoting environmental awareness and encouraging proactive participation in sustainability initiatives.
