Ms. Jhanjan Roshnie is a Policy Advisor at the Ministry of Health Suriname in charge of CARICOM and PAHO affairs and is working for twelve (12) years now at the Ministry of Health. She has her diploma in Spanish teaching at secondary level. Currently, she is a student in the Master of Public Health Program at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname. Ms. Jhanjan is actively involved in writing interventions for the Minister of Health for regional and international meetings and is also in charge of reading those interventions when the Minister is not participating in those meetings. Since 2016 she has been part of the CARICOM/CARPHA/COHSOD and PAHO meetings in Washington D.C.
Ms. Jhanjan is active in raising awareness in her community by having small get-togethers with the youth to inform them about climate change. She has offered the people in her community to bring their plastic bottles to her home and then she is responsible for further delivery at the recycling company.
She aims to be a Climate Change and Health Leader, that can speak/advocate fearlessly in public and can bring small changes in the behaviour of people in her own country such as not throwing garbage out of their cars or in rivers, and collecting plastic supplies for recycling instead of dumping them anywhere! And secondly, to let her voice be heard as a Climate Change and Health Leader at the regional and international meetings she is and will be attending.
