Nicole N. Hazel is Managing Director and Principal Consultant of East Bridge Global Inc., a monitoring, evaluation and research consulting firm specialising in human and sustainable development. Nicole has twenty years’ experience monitoring projects, conducting evaluations and mixed methods research in Barbados and extensively throughout the Caribbean.
Her experience includes projects funded and/or implemented by the United States Agency for International Development, the Open Society Foundations, the United Nations System, the Government of Barbados among others.
Nicole began her career as a Research Assistant on the Barbados HIV/AIDS Impact Project, which underscored the importance of using data to improve the lives of individuals and communities. Her sectoral expertise encompasses areas such as health services access and utilisation, child and youth development and the impact of non-governmental organisations. More recently, Nicole contributed to the design and managed the development of The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Climate Education, Justice and Literacy Hub.
Prior to this fellowship, Nicole conducted a study commissioned by UNICEF on the impact of climate change and other shocks on the mental health and psychosocial well-being of adolescents and youth in the Eastern Caribbean. Other interests include communication about climate change specifically within the context of natural disasters.
Nicole holds a Master of Arts in Health Services Management from the University of Manchester and a Master of Social Change and Development from the University of Newcastle, Australia. She is an alumna of The UWI, Cave Hill where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Hons.). Nicole also graduated from the Barbados Community College with an Associate Degree in Applied Arts, Mass Communication.
