Dr. Felicia Frederick-Davis is a Psychology Instructor and Researcher at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine Campus, with a passion for advancing mental well-being, resilience, and healthy coping strategies among diverse populations. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with First Class Honours, a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology with Distinction, and a Ph.D. in Psychology from The University of the West Indies.<\/p>\n
Dr. Frederick-Davis\u2019 research and professional interests focus on mental health, health behaviours, and the psychological, social, and cultural factors that influence how individuals understand, navigate, and manage physical and psychological challenges. Her scholarly work explores the complex relationship between thoughts, emotions, social environments, and health-related decision-making, with the goal of contributing to improved health outcomes and greater psychological well-being. Her doctoral research examined the psychological insulin resistance and the factors influencing willingness to initiate insulin therapy among persons with Type 2 diabetes in Trinidad, contributing to a greater understanding of the complex relationship between psychological processes, chronic disease management, and healthcare decision-making.<\/p>\n
As an educator, researcher, and advocate, Dr. Frederick-Davis is committed to increasing mental health awareness, promoting resilience, and empowering individuals to develop effective strategies for managing stress and life\u2019s challenges. Through her teaching, research, mentorship, and community engagement, she works to create supportive environments that encourage growth, self-understanding, and purposeful living.<\/p>\n
Beyond her academic contributions, Dr. Frederick-Davis is a strong advocate for resilience, purposeful living, and personal growth.
