About the Speaker<\/h4>\n
Born to a Trinidadian mother and a Grenadian father, Malaika Church carries dual nationalities with pride. She has a Bachelor\u2019s degree with honors in Communications from Howard University as well as a Master\u2019s degree from the Communications University of China in International Communications with a specialization in Sports Production.<\/p>\n
Church started off her career at the Grenada Broadcasting Network (GBN) (part of the One Caribbean Network Group), as a Sports Producer. During that time she also volunteered at the local Grenada Football Association (GFA) as their Media Officer as well as lectured in the area of Media Studies at T.A Marryshow Community College.<\/p>\n
Thereafter, Malaika became the Grenada Football Association\u2019s first Women\u2019s Development Officer. She was then thrust into the role of interim General Secretary of the Association which signaled a greater focus on Women\u2019s Football on the island. The Association then took on the challenge to host the Concacaf Women\u2019s Under 17 Championship in 2016. It was the first time the Association would have endeavoured to host a tournament of such magnitude. During that period, Church was selected as one of 35 women from the Concacaf region to participate in FIFA\u2019s Female Leadership Development Programme. Church resigned from the GFA after the successful hosting of the U17 Championship and began working for FIFA Development Zurich AG in 2017. <\/p>\n
Presently living in Barbados, Church is one of three persons who work at the FIFA Regional Office in Barbados and is responsible for thirteen (13) Member Associations (MAs) in the Caribbean region.<\/p>\n
