The programmes will also focus on the local and regional realities of sport. The courses and projects to be pursued will facilitate the development of skills and competencies necessary for success at senior management level in sporting organisations in the public, commercial and voluntary sectors.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>These programmes are broadly aimed at providing participants with the requisite educational background necessary for executive management and leadership positions in a variety of sport and recreational fields. Within the Master of Science degree, the role of scholarship and focused disciplinary study will be emphasised so as to prepare graduates to think conceptually and analytically, and to positively impact professional practices and policies in the respective fields of sports and recreation.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________<\/h3>\n<h3>UWI\/FIFA\/CIES Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"FIFA-CIES Network logo \u2502 English_0.png\" src=\"\/fss\/dms\/sites\/default\/files\/dms\/images\/FIFA-CIES%20Network%20logo%20%E2%94%82%20English_0.png\" \/><\/p>\n[video:https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=FLpSX5-pPbw width:560 height:315]\n<h3 class=\"rtejustify\">Introduction<\/h3>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">In response to the lack of professional sports management currently experienced in the Caribbean, the UWI, St. Augustine Campus, in collaboration with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cies.ch\/education\/fifacies-international-programme\/home\">Centre International D\u2019Etude Du Sport (CIES)<\/a>, and under the auspices of the FIFA, has introduced a Postgraduate Diploma in Sports Management.<\/p>\n<p class=\"rtejustify\">The FIFA\/CIES International University Network\u00a0brings together universities from all over the world. In addition to these outcomes, graduates of the M.Sc. should be able to:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrate skills in qualitative and quantitative analysis.<\/li>\n<li>Conduct research on issues relevant to managing and developing sports organisations and events, and to present the findings of such research in a coherent and understandable manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Continuation from Postgraduate Diploma to the M.Sc.<\/h4>\n<p>Students who have successfully completed the Postgraduate Diploma with a B average can:<\/p>\n<p>(a) continue right away to complete the M.Sc. in Sports Management. Such students will be required to complete eighteen (18) additional credits for the award of the M.Sc. as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MGMT 6007 \u2013 Research Methodology (4 credits)<\/li>\n<li>SPMA 6006 \u2013 Sport &amp; Public Policy (4 credits)<\/li>\n<li>SPMA 6007 \u2013 Research Project (10 credits)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(b) choose to be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma and return to complete the M.Sc. after two (2) years. In addition to these outcomes, graduates of the M.Sc. should be able to:<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>Demonstrate skills in qualitative and quantitative analysis.<\/li>\r\n\t<li>Conduct research on issues relevant to managing and developing sports organisations and events, and to present the findings of such research in a coherent and understandable manner.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<h4>Continuation from Postgraduate Diploma to the M.Sc.<\/h4>\r\n\r\n<p>Students who have successfully completed the Postgraduate Diploma with a B average can:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<p>(a) continue right away to complete the M.Sc. in Sports Management. Such students will be required to complete eighteen (18) additional credits for the award of the M.Sc. as follows:<\/p>\r\n\r\n<ul>\r\n\t<li>MGMT 6007 \u2013 Research Methodology (4 credits)<\/li>\r\n\t<li>SPMA 6006 \u2013 Sport &amp; Public Policy (4 credits)<\/li>\r\n\t<li>SPMA 6007 \u2013 Research Project (10 credits)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n<p>(b) choose to be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma and return to complete the M.Sc. after two (2) years.
