On Thursday 4th<\/sup> April 2019,<\/strong> for our Conversations with CEOs<\/em><\/strong> series, we had the privilege to have an intimate discussion with the distinguished and dynamic Ms. Catherine Kumar<\/strong>, <\/strong>co-founder of Powerful Ladies of Trinidad and Tobago (PLOTT) <\/strong>and former CEO of the Trinidad and Tobago Cham\u00adber of In\u00addus\u00adtry and Com\u00admerce.<\/p>\n

About Ms. Catherine Kumar<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Ms. Kumar\u2019s career has been a pioneering one in the fields of banking and administration. She served as:<\/p>\n

* the first female president of a totally male dominated successful American business organization, the American Chamber of Commerce of Trinidad and Tobago (AMCHAM).<\/p>\n

* the first female Inspector of Financial Institutions, regulating banks and insurance companies of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago which were nearly totally led by males.<\/p>\n

* the President and Country Head of RBTT Bank Limited, one of the largest commercial banks in Trinidad and Tobago.<\/p>\n

She gained a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) Degree in Management Studies from the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).<\/p>\n

Ms. Kumar has been recognized by her alma maters as follows:<\/p>\n

Inducted into the Hall of Excellence at St Joseph\u2019s Convent P.O.S. in October 2009 in recognition of her outstanding achievements in business.<\/p>\n

Recipient of one of the 50 awards given by The University of the West Indies St Augustine on the occasion of their fiftieth anniversary.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2014, she was conferred with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) at the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus Graduation Ceremony for the Faculty of Social Sciences.<\/p>\n

In 2015, Ms. Kumar received National Recognition: Medal for the Development of Women (Gold) \u2013 For Outstanding Contribution to the Development of Women\u2019s Rights and Issues in Trinidad and Tobago<\/p>\n

In 2016, she retired from her position as CEO of the Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce after six years, where she successfully guided the country\u2019s largest business services organizations through several national policy changes.<\/p>\n

Ms. Kumar is also the co-founder of the Powerful Ladies of Trinidad and Tobago (P.L.O.T.T.), a network that seeks to support, champion and promote women within Trinidad and Tobago. \u00a0PLOTT is made up of women who have either owned and operated their own business or been part of an executive leadership team.<\/p>\n

Ms. Kumar remains actively involved in voluntary coaching for the development of female leaders. Through this, she continues to be involved in assisting young female managers and business owners in achieving their dream.[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column]
