Wendell C. Wallace, PhD Criminology and Criminal Justice is a Senior Lecturer in the Criminology and Criminal Justice Unit, Department of Behavioural Sciences, at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus. Dr. Wallace is also a Barrister who has been called to the Bar in both England and Wales and Trinidad and Tobago as well as a certified mediator with the Mediation Board of Trinidad and Tobago. He has published eight books (single author and edited) and over forty peer-reviewed articles in regional and international journals. Some of his work has been published in the following journals: Feminist Criminology, Journal of Developing Societies, British Journal of Criminology, Journal of Aggression, Maltreatment and Trauma, Caribbean Journal of Criminology, Journal of Gang Research, the Police Journal, International Journal for Crime, Justice and Social Democracy, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Island Studies Journal, and Social and Economic Studies. Dr. Wallace served as the Chair for the Faculty Staff\/Student Liaison Committee (2019-2020) and as the Deputy Dean for Distance Education and Outreach within the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) (2020-2023). As an educator at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine campus, he has taught a range of courses both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. As a researcher, he is focused on policing, gangs, the development of a Caribbean criminology, violence (domestic and school), and issues impacting higher education. He is the recipient of the best Doctoral paper by the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences (ACJS), Juvenile Justice Section, Student Paper competition (2014) for his research paper \u201cAddressing the unmet educational needs of children and youth in detention in Trinidad and Tobago\u201d and the Frederic Milton Thrasher Award 2017 for Superior Accomplishments in Gang Research by the National Gang Crime Research Center (NGCRC) in the USA. Dr. Wallace is an active member of the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago and The Honourable Society of Gray\u2019s Inn, London.<\/p>\n
