MATH 1150 Functions of Real Variables

 

Pre-requisites:

Two units of CAPE Mathematics, or MATH 0100 (M08B) and MATH 0110 (M08C), or equivalent

 

Course Description:

Functions and Inverse Functions.Limits, continuity and differentiability. Indeterminate forms.Maxima and Minima, Mean-Value, Rolleís and Taylorís Theorems.Polar coordinates. Parametric representation and sketching of curves. Arc length. The definite integral, primitives and methods of integration. Ordinary differential equations - first and second order. Methods of undetermined coefficients (repeated roots included) and reduction of order. Introduction to partial derivatives.

 

Assessment:

Coursework (in-course Tests/Assignments)      – 25%

Final exam (3 Hours)                                      – 75%
