Qualifications and Experience 

The successful candidate must possess a DVM/BVSc or equivalent with an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Veterinary Anaesthesia.

 

Candidates must also possess:

  • At least five (5) years specialist experience in Veterinary Anaesthesia

  • A minimum of five (5) years University level teaching experience and post graduate research

  • Experience supervising Small Animal Veterinary Anaesthetic cases
  • Experience lecturing Undergraduate Students in Veterinary Anaesthesia (all species)

 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage:

  • Board Certification (Dip ACVAA, Dip ECVAA)

  • Further training in Veterinary Anaesthesiology

  • An acceptable level of research as evidenced by recent publications in peer reviewed journals

 

Board eligibility will be an asset.

 

Special Responsibilities
  • Lecturing in Veterinary Anaesthesiology and Pain Management
  • Performing anaesthesia on companion, farm, equine and exotic animals
  • Contribute significantly to the development of interdisciplinary clinical courses for the DVM programme and facilitating interdisciplinary research among related disciplines
  • Co-ordinating and overseeing the wide range of veterinary anaesthesiology and directing clinical professional education and post-graduate modules in this area
  • Carrying out independent and group research and guiding and supervising student independent and group research
  • Carrying out Senior Administrative duties
  • Supervising Equine and Farm Animal Veterinary Anaesthetic cases

  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills

  • Have a high level of clinical competence

  • Be able to contribute significantly to curriculum development

  • Be able to work well in a clinical team
