Cleaner (Grade 9)

Applications are invited to apply for the post of Cleaner (Grade 9) in the Department of Creative and Festival Arts.
Duties of the post include:
1. Cleaning and preparing the Conference Room and Meeting Rooms; Tidying up after meetings, ensuring the whiteboards are clean and ready for use.
2. Cleaning of offices, and classrooms including emptying bins, vacuuming, sweeping, cob webbing, mopping, dusting, cleaning the whiteboards and straightening furniture daily.
3. Cleaning of laboratories including the benches, sinks and floors.
4. Sweeping, mopping and cobwebbing of washrooms, corridors and staircase as assigned.
5. Cleaning doors, blinds, glass, window panes, mirrors, walls, countertops, furniture, light switches and reachable light fittings weekly.
6. Ensuring that the kitchen area is clean and well-maintained. This includes cleaning refrigerators, microwaves, and cupboards, and emptying and washing kitchen bins as necessary.
7. Ensuring that toilets are kept clean and supplied with soap, toilet paper and hand towels at all times.
8. Preparing and serving refreshments for events and/or meetings when and where necessary and ensuring that crockery is collected, washed, and adequately stored after use.
9. Performing any other related duties as may be assigned by the Administrative Assistant or the Head of Department.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Applicants must have knowledge of the use of cleaning products and cleaning techniques. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate effective housekeeping skills. Applicants must have completed the Covid 19 training for cleaners. Applicants must be able to understand simple oral and written instructions and to do very simple short cycle tasks that typically involve manual effort.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Candidates must possess minimum qualifications of at least three (3) GCE or CXC ‘O’ Levels (General I, II or III from 1998) passes including English Language or should be enrolled in or successfully completed The UWI Ancillary Staff Training Programme.
EXPERIENCE
One (1) year of relevant work experience in an office environment.

Salary will be fixed in accordance with Grade 9 of the salary scale.
