Lecturer in Law [REF# 166-15 I L1]

The successful candidate must possess at minimum: 

• A PhD in Law or a closely related field 

            OR  

• A LLM or JD with a heavy emphasis on the common law in addition to a good research and publication record; or substantial professional legal experience

Candidates should also possess at least two (2) years’ experience teaching at the tertiary level at a recognized tertiary institution/university in Law, with demonstrable teaching experience in a combination of at least three (3) of the following areas:

         o   Legal Research and Writing

         o   Public International Law

         o   International Human Rights

         o   Constitutional Law

         o   Criminal Law

         o   Tort Law

         o   Property Law

         o   Contract Law

         o   Trust and Equitable Remedies

         o   Jurisprudence

         o   Family Law

         o   Corporate Insolvency

         o   Corporate Finance/ Management

         o   Company Law

         o   Constitutional Law

         o   Administrative Law

         o   Alternative Dispute Resolution 

Candidates with the following would have an advantage: 

• Teaching experience at the postgraduate level
• Experience in supervising research projects
• Proficiency in teaching with diverse instructional methods including face-to-face and blended learning

The following would be considered assets: 

• Teaching qualification
• Certificate in university teaching and learning
• Teaching experience at a recognized tertiary institution/university 

Key Responsilities 

• Teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Assisting in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects/theses
• Developing a research agenda in Law and disseminating through top-ranked published papers and conference presentations
• Serving on Faculty and University committees
• Attending Faculty board meetings
• Assisting with the periodic review of the curriculum
• Advising undergraduate and graduate students
• Supporting the outreach activities of the Faculty 

Personal Attributes

• Be willing to apply diverse teaching methods
