3rd Biennial Oil & Gas Law & The Just Transition Initiative Conference

Following the success of the two previous biennial Oil and Gas Law conferences in 2015 and 2017 the St Augustine Faculty of Law held the 3rd Biennial Oil and Gas Law Conference at the Hilton Hotel and Conference Centre Trinidad, from March 27th- 29th 2019. In collaboration with the Just Transition Initiative. The theme was ‘The Relevance of Renewable Energy in the Caribbean’. Topics  included oil and gas law contract re-negotiation, taxation, environmental justice and energy issues in transitioning to a greener economies. Several major oil companies, Universities and the MEEI collaborated with the UWI to host the conference.

Keynote speakers included Vonda Brunsting, Programme Manager of The Just Transition Project at Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University, US; and Visiting Professor at Oxford University; and Kevin Ramnarine, Strategic Energy Adviser, Former Minister of Energy, Trinidad and Tobago.
