{"id":317,"date":"2017-06-08T13:20:02","date_gmt":"2017-06-08T13:20:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sta.uwi.edu\/law\/?p=317"},"modified":"2026-05-05T15:48:29","modified_gmt":"2026-05-05T19:48:29","slug":"the-faculty-of-law-uwi-oil-gas-law-conference","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sta.uwi.edu\/law\/the-faculty-of-law-uwi-oil-gas-law-conference\/","title":{"rendered":"The Faculty of Law, UWI-Oil &#038; Gas Law Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following the success of the inaugural Oil &amp; Gas Law Conference which took place in 2015 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port-of Spain, the UWI St. Augustine Faculty of Law organised its second Oil and Gas Law Conference\u00a0 which was held at the Hilton Trinidad Conference Centre on June 8th\u00a0and 9th\u00a02017.\u00a0 The conference addressed the current legal challenges in the Energy sector in light of the decline in oil prices and how this scenario affected oil exploration agreements. It also sought to discuss the legal issues in energy exploration and production that new frontiers experienced and the lessons from more mature jurisdictions.<\/p>\n<p>The respective themes were, Day 1 \u2018Exploring the legal framework for Oil &amp; Gas Law\u2019 and Day 2 \u2018The Trinidad experience: Setting the context and lessons learnt\u2019.
