Justice Saunders offered an engaging presentation on savings law clauses and addressed the divergent approaches taken by the CCJ on one hand and the Privy Council on the other.<\/p>\n<p>Though not limited to death penalty cases, the effects of savings clauses are typically most conspicuous when accused persons are sentenced to death. The CCJ has responded with a commendable humanitarian outlook on these matters while respecting the separation of powers and the rule of law.
