The Third Graduate Student Conference, Caribbean Without Borders: Interconnections and Extensions, will be held on March 15th-16th, 2010, at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. Author, Myriam J.A. Chancy, will be the featured speaker.

Paper proposals are invited for this conference, sponsored by the English Department of the College of Humanities at the University of Puerto Rico. A bi-annual event, the conference welcomes graduate student presentations in English, Spanish, French, and any Caribbean language on the literature, languages and cultures of the Caribbean. Exploring the idea of a Caribbean without borders, this year’s theme encourages comparative studies that highlight intra-Caribbean and extended Caribbean perspectives. Of special interest are proposals that focus on comparative internal Caribbean dynamics and/or those on an extended Caribbean region, including the U.S. South, Central and South America, West Africa, and other sites within the wider Atlantic region. Literary, linguistic, socio-cultural, and interdisciplinary scholarship is welcome.
