Event Date(s): 17/01/2010
Location: UWI
UWI Fete, the original all-inclusive, celebrates 20 years, on Sunday 17th January, 2010. The event spans two successful decades dedicated to raising funds in support of bursaries for deserving UWI students. For 2010, inspired by the traditional gifting of China for a twentieth anniversary, UWI Fete presents “China”, a twentieth anniversary fete with Asian flair.
In 1991, through the initiative of then Campus Principal, Professor George Maxwell Richards the first UWI Fete was launched. It quickly became one of the cornerstones of the UWI Development & Endowment Fund. Over the past 20 years over 3000 bursaries have been awarded by the Fund.
The UWI Fete takes place in its original location, the grounds of the UWI Principal’s office from noon to 8 pm, where guests will be entertained by Bunji Garlin, Faye-Ann Lyons and the Asylum Band, Kes The Band, Roy Cape All-Stars and Karma.
Tickets cost $700 and are available at Student Advisory Services. As is customary, members of staff will be offered a salary deduction option for the payment of tickets. The deductions will be for the months of February and March, 2010 only.
