Regional airlines continue to fly in stormy skies and some fear a rough landing ahead. Can we afford to help them through today’s turbulent times? Can we afford not to? The Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social & Economic Studies (SALISES) is pleased to announce a forum on the topic “Meeting the Challenges of the Aviation Industry in the Caribbean – Whither Air Jamaica.” It takes place on Monday 11th January, 2010, beginning promptly at 1:30 pm at the Conference Room, Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies, UWI (St. Augustine) Campus.  

Panelists are: 

  • Professor Norman Girvan, Institute of International Relations, UWI 
  • Mr. Ian Bertrand, Aviation Consultant and Former CEO of BWIA International 

The session shall be chaired by Mr. Martin Franklin, Head, Department of Economics, UWI  

 

Members of the media, the University Community and the general public are invited to attend and to take part in the discussion following the presentation of the panelists on this topic of importance.
