Numbers, numbers...everywhere!

Event Date(s): 21/03/2010 - 21/03/2011

“Numbers, numbers...everywhere!” That is a remark from the new local science documentary "All is number," titled after a statement by one of the fathers of Mathematics, Pythagoras. The feature, filmed on location in both Trinidad and Barbados, is the second in a series of local science documentaries being produced by The University of the West Indies. "All is Number" reveals the myriad elements in the region that appear to have little to do with Mathematics, but are, in fact, highly influenced by the field. It shows that Mathematics is the language of nature and is as beautiful as nature itself.

This documentary was filmed in HD and produced by two regional UWI scientists, Dr. Shirin Haque (Trinidad) and Prof. Leo Moseley (Barbados). It was directed by Mr. Terry Sampson and funded by the Peter Moores Trust and The University of the West Indies.

A number of UWI staff and faculty members are featured in this documentary, including Mathematician, Dr. Donna Commisiong; Director of the Institute of Critical Thinking, Dr. Bhoedradatt Tewarie; Professor of Physics, Prof. Leo Moseley; and Adrian Trotman of the Institute of Meterology and Climatology. The original musical score is by Justin Sampson.

"All is Number" will premiere on Sunday 21st March, 2010, at 5 pm, on the Carib Vision channel. Thereafter it will continue to be aired repeatedly on this channel, across the Caribbean and parts of North America, for a year.
