Event Date(s): 05/02/2010 - 26/02/2010

Location: Main Library, Ground Floor

From now until February 26th, 2010, all members of the public are invited on a journey through the life of Caribbean Renaissance man, Professor Rex Nettleford. In his memory, the Main Library at The University of the West Indies (UWI) has mounted a display entitled Remembering Rex: Ralston Milton ‘Rex’ Nettleford 3rd February 1933-2nd February 2010.

From his days as a youth growing up in Trelawny, Jamaica, to his undergraduate years at UWI, to his many honours and awards throughout the following years, up until his acceptance of the Chancellor’s award in 2009, here at The UWI St. Augustine, this display shows how the man became the legend.

Also on display are some of his many publications, including Mirror, Mirror: Identity, Race and Protest in Jamaica; Inward Stretch Outward Reach: a Voice from the Caribbean; and Dance Jamaica: Cultural Definition and Artiste Discovery - The National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica 1962-1983.
