Call for Proposals: 2nd International Conference on Higher Education

Event Date(s): 28/04/2010 - 20/10/2010

Location: Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre, Barbados

The Barbados Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development will host its 2nd International Conference on Higher Education, in collaboration with Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, Barbados Community College, Samuel Jackman Prescod Polytechnic, Caribbean Knowledge Learning Network and Coppin State University. The conference is scheduled to take place from October 17th-20th, 2010, at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Conference Centre.

The theme of the conference is The Global Education Meltdown: Solutions for Sustainability, and was chosen in light of the current multinational economic realities which have created significant debate related to funding and efficiency of Education delivery. As small developing states manage the external pressures and opportunities afforded by the current trends in the internationalisation of education, it is becoming clear that programming cycles must be sustainable and more focused on efficient execution. The purpose of this conference is to bring together keynote speakers and researchers from all walks of life to explore and share solutions underpinning excellence in higher education.

This is a multi-disciplinary conference planned around the following sub themes:

  • Boys to Men: Recovering the male student presence on campus
  • Education attainment in under-performing institutions
  • Leveraging technology in austere economies
  • 21st century leadership for public education
  • Personal and professional empowerment in the educational arena
  • Education for sustainable economic and social development
  • 21st century solutions for health sciences education
  • Going Green: Innovations in environmental sustainability
