The University of the West Indies, Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies (SALISES) will host their 9th Annual Conference from Wednesday 26th to Friday 28th March, 2008 at the Mona’s Visitors Lodge, UWI Mona. The Conference will be held in honour of Professor Norman Girvan for his sterling contribution to the University, the Institute and the Caribbean region.
The conference deliberations will include all the many research areas in which Professor Norman Girvan has contributed to the academic wealth of The University of the West Indies.“Reinventing the Political Economy Tradition of the Caribbean” proposes to take the work of Professor Girvan and his generation of intellectual thinkers as a point of departure for rethinking the political economy of the Caribbean.
