The Institute of International Relations (IIR) University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine and the United Nations University host the first ever UNU Global Seminar in the Caribbean. This year’s theme is “Regional Governance: Challenges and Opportunities.” The Seminar is hosted by the Director of IIR Prof. Tim Shaw and will be opened by the UNU Vice Rector, Professor Kazuhiko Takeuchi in the IIR Board Room on Monday 28th June, 2010, at 10 am. The Seminar lasts three days and ends on Wednesday 30th June, 2010.
The aim of UNU Global Seminars is to enhance awareness about contemporary global issues and the role of the United Nations in addressing those issues. On Wednesday 30th June, secondary school students, undergraduates, postgraduates and young professionals will be given the opportunity to interact with distinguished scholars and practitioners from the region to explore and discuss issues related to Regional Governance.
