The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, UWI, and The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) will host a workshop, titled “Low-cost Wireless Computer Networking,” from June 7th-11th, 2010, from 9 am-5 pm, at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Computer Laboratory, UWI. Among the sponsors of the workshop are The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, The Internet Society, Network Start-up Resource Center (NSRC), and the Foundation Escuela Latinoamericana de Redes (EsLaRed).
The aim of the wireless workshop is to build needed capacity in the country and Caribbean region in low cost wireless technologies for social networks and education. It will provide a technical forum for disseminating information on tools used for assessing, implementing, maintaining and training wireless networks. It will provide a unique opportunity for members of the university in various disciplines, to obtain first-hand knowledge and research skills from regional and international experts.
