UN Human Rights Film Seminar

The University of the West Indies Students Today Alumni Tomorrow (UWISTAT), in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC), will host a Human Rights Film Seminar on Thursday 21st October, 2010, at 5 pm at LRC Auditorium. 

This programme is aimed at inspiring and encouraging UWI students to view the world from the perspective of a global citizen and future leader by engaging students, through film, on issues relating to human rights. 

The seminar will feature art displays, films, and a panel discussion featuring prominent human rights activists and international relations professionals, including Dr. Johann Geiser, Former UNDP Head of Trinidad and Tobago; Ms. Amanda Laurence, United Nations Information Officer; and Mr. Dayne Marc Chin Slick, Co-Founder United Nations Youth Association of Trinidad and Tobago (UNYATT) and UWISTAT Ambassador.  

The films shown at the seminar include Cuba Waiting for a Revolution and Beach of Death, as well as several other short films. There will also be performances by UWeSPEAK and personal testimonials given.
