The Government of Canada has launched the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS) programme, targeted at scholars who demonstrate leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in the social sciences and humanities, natural sciences and engineering, and health-related fields.  

The Vanier CGS is valued at C$50,000 per year for three years. Students wishing to be considered for the scholarship must be nominated by the Canadian university to which they are applying for doctoral studies.
