The UWI St. Augustine Campus collaborates with the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Food Production, Land and Marine Affairs, to recognise World Food Day from 12th-13th November, 2010. Celebrations for this year’s World Food Day, themed United Against Hunger, begin at 9:30 am, on Friday 12th November, at the JFK Quadrangle, with a Food Fest Exhibition. At this exhibition, visitors can check out Exhibitor Booths showcasing local agricultural produce, seafood and livestock, including local game (wild meat), get some shopping done at the Market Place, see live animals on display, sample tasty local delicacies such as wild meat, vegetable burgers, cassava granola and crayfish, and take a cinematic tour of our islands’ agricultural heritage. There will also be tours of The UWI Zoology museum, diabetes testing, and free seeds and seedlings available. The Food Fest closes at 5 pm on that day, but reopens the next day, Saturday 13th November, from 10 am-5 pm. The World Food Day celebrations end that evening with a Candle Light Vigil from 5-6 pm, also scheduled to take place at the JFK Quadrangle.
