Be Spoke – Art Exhibition and Competition

Location: Student Activity Centre (SAC) Greens


The Guild of Students and the Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA), will host a design exhibit intended to give UWI students an opportunity to earn monetary funds, gain public recognition, and promote the Arts as a living organism in the University. Further to this, students will be invited to critique and vote on the works, and the three most popular works will be awarded monetary prizes of $1000, $500 and $200 by the Guild of Students.

This endeavour is also part of a larger vision of developing the Faculty of Humanities and Education into a more artistically sensitive space. Some of the art created by the various student artists, with their permission, will be used as decorative pieces within the various spaces of the faculty, from the offices to the Undercroft.

The event takes place on 25th November, 2010, from 10 am-6 pm, on the Student Activity Centre (SAC) Greens. The entire Campus community is invited to the event.

The pieces in the exhibit will be categorised are as follows:

  • Digital Art and Photography
  • Design Objects
  • Fine Arts
  • Textiles

 

All work must be submitted to the DCFA office by Friday 19th November.

Screening of all work will take place on 22nd November.
