IGDS hosts Break the Silence conference - Opening ceremony

The Institute for Gender and Development Studies invites the Campus community to the Opening Ceremony for its “Break the Silence:  End Child Sexual Abuse Regional Conference,” carded for Wednesday 4th May, 2011, from 6-9.30 pm, at the Daaga Auditorium.

This ceremony will feature guest speaker Professor Paulo Sergio Pinheiro, Research Coordinator at the Centre of Violence, Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Keynote address will be delivered by Professor Adele Jones, Professor of Childhood Studies and Director of the Centre for Applied Childhood Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.

The conference will follow the theme “Understanding and Preventing Child Sexual Abuse and HIV Risk: Presentation of Research Findings and an Intervention Model,” and will take place from 4th-6th May, 2011, at the Health Economics Unit (HEU) Auditorium, HEU, Faculty of Social Sciences, UWI.
