Management of Intellectual Property and Innovation Clusters

The Business Development Office (BDO) invites all Academic Staff members to a seminar entitled, Management of Intellectual Property and Innovation Clusters. This seminar is hosted in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and will take place at the St. Augustine Campus on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th October, 2011. 

The aim of the seminar is to provide guidance to universities in the region on the establishment of Technology Transfer Offices and to create awareness on the importance of IP management in innovation, research and development strategies.

Presenters include Mr. Ali Jazairy, Head of WIPO’s Innovation and Technology Transfer Section; Mr. Wayne Watkins, Associate Vice-President for Research, University of Akron, Ohio; and Mr. Thomas Ewing, Strategic IP Counselling, Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Regional expert presenters are expected to include Mr. Malcolm Spence, Senior Coordinator on Intellectual Property, Science and Technology Issues, CARICOM Secretariat; and Mr. Richard Aching, Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Legal Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago.
