Fifty years after the Jamaican referendum that resulted in the secession of Jamaica from the Federation of the West Indies, the three Deans of the Faculties of Social Sciences (FSS) at The University of the West Indies (UWI) invite the public to attend a forum which will examine the state of affairs in the West Indies over the past fifty years. The Deans’ Forum is carded for Friday 7th October, 2011, from 6-8 pm, at the Daaga Auditorium, UWI St. Augustine Campus. 

Presenters include the Deans of the Faculties of Social Sciences at the three Campuses. Dr. Hamid Ghany, FSS Dean at The UWI’s St. Augustine Campus, will discuss the topic, Eric Williams and the Westminster-Whitehall Tradition; Professor Mark Figueroa, FSS Dean, Mona Campus, will address Visions of the West Indies: Extending the Images of Arthur Lewis and His Critics, while Dr. George Belle, FSS Dean, Cave Hill Campus, will discuss, Bustamante's Act and Regional Integration Now
