Physics Department hosts student seminar

Event Date(s): 02/02/2012

Location: Faculty of Science and Agriculture, Room 413

The Physics Department hosts the student seminar of Ms. Anastasia Baboolal on Thursday 2nd February, 2012, at 3pm, at the Faculty of Science and Agriculture, Room 413.

Ms. Baboolal will discuss the topic, “Experimental Petrophysical Characterization of Formations in the Northern Range of Trinidad.”

Abstract:

The intricate make-up of the rock formations in Trinidad and Tobago has been the subject of dynamic investigation for over 100 years. This particular investigation was specific to the Northern Range; however the approach taken in this work is different from previous investigations in that the rock formations of the Northern Range were classified in terms of a mineralogical, morphological, topographical, crystallographic and elemental distribution characteristics using various analysis techniques including x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, and physical characterization methods. These parameters and the experimental petrophysical characterization of the formations of the Northern Range, Trinidad will be presented and discussed in this seminar.

Keywords: Northern Range, Experimental Petrophysics, Rock Formations
