DCFA hosts Jouvay Ayiti band – 50 Years...Mud, Fete and Tears!

Event Date(s): 20/02/2012

Location: DCFA, Agostini Street, St. Augustine

The Department of Creative and Festival Arts (DCFA) hosts Jouvay Ayiti on 20th February, 2012, from 3 am, in Port-of-Spain.

In recognition of Trinidad and Tobago’s 50th anniversary of Independence, this year’s Jouvay Ayiti is themed ‘50 Years… Mud, Fete and Tears.’ The band is essentially a discussion on Trinidad and Tobago's Independence and the regional independence movement through ‘jouvay mas.’ Described as “a Dame Lorraine, Ole Mas Jouvay band in GOLD-mud,” each masquerader is asked “50 years have gone, how yuh feel about the Caribbean?” and invited to “make a mas with Independence,” to the sounds of the Curepe Scherzando Steelband and the Culture Market Rhythm Section.

Registration deadline: Sunday 19th February, 2012
