50th Anniversary Display at Alma Jordan Library

Event Date(s): 08/08/2012 - 20/12/2012

Location: Alma Jordan Library

The Alma Jordan Library marks the 50th anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence with a special display titled, ‘Forging the Nation’s Identity: Trinidad and Tobago in 1962.’ All are invited to view the display at the ground floor of the Library until 12th October, 2012, as well as online until December, 2012.

This display focuses on three aspects of our country’s identity: the National Flag, the National Anthem and the Coat of Arms. The evolution of these mainstays of our national identity can be followed throughout the display with many of the original items on physical display coming from the Carlisle Chang Collection at the Alma Jordan Library.

This display is represented by a drawing by artist and Library Assistant at the Library’s West Indiana and Special Collections Division, Darron Small. The Technical (IT coding) work for the website display was done by Kristian Mathison, a third-year student at the Department of Computing and Information Technology.
