The UWI's Department of History invites the Campus community to the sixth panel discussion of its “In the Fires of Hope: 50 Years of Independence” lecture series, titled ‘Fired by Hope: The Tobago Independence Experience.’ This panel discussion will take place on Friday 24th August, 2012, at 6pm at the Conference Room, the Division of Infrastructure and Public Utilities, Old Milford Road, Scarborough, Tobago.
Panelists include Reverend Rawlins Bacchus, who will discuss the social development of Tobago since T&T’s independence, Grace Dennis with insight into the island’s cultural development, Dean Fraser speaking on the impact of independence on rural communities, and Lincoln Warner who will explore the development of education and sports in Tobago in the last 50 years.
There will also be a special exhibition by the National Archives of Trinidad and Tobago.
