Event Date(s): 19/09/2012

The Faculty of Science and Technology hosts a seminar by Dr. Charles deMatas, a lecturer at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, on Wednesday 19th September, 2012, from noon-1pm, at the Natural Sciences Conference Room.

Dr. deMatas will speak on the topic “Possible Applications of Stirling Engines”.

Abstract:

A brief outline of the historical development and theory behind Stirling engines will be given. Then we will look at some possible applications that may become more attractive in the near future. These include underwater propulsion systems, renewable energy power systems, OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion), Natural Gas liquefaction, etc. The presentation will be non-technical and aimed at a general audience.  All staff and postgraduate students are invited.
