DCFA celebrates 25 years of Visual Arts at UWI

The Visual Arts Unit of the Department DCFA invites all to their 25th Anniversary events from Friday 30th November to Saturday 15th December 2012 at the DCFA on Gordon St in St. Augustine. 

The schedule of events includes:

1. “Show and Sell” on Friday 30th November from 10am-6pm and Saturday 1st December from 10am-4pm. This is a two-day sale featuring various types of art including drawings, paintings, sculpture, designed objects such as ceramics, handbags, jewellery, clothing, and media including DVDs, and books. Featured participants include former DCFA students Robert Young of The Cloth; Tamara Cruickshank, producer of a recent DVD about Black Stalin; jeweller Jacqueline Charles and portrait artist Ellij Nicholas. Current and former lecturers such as Virginia D’Ornellas and Camille King are also among the participants. There will also be a “Playing with Fire” performance on Friday 30th November from 6pm.  

2. Sidewalk Chalk Drawing and “You/We Does Draw 24” on Saturday 1st December. Sidewalk Chalk Drawing kicks off at 2pm with “You/We Does Draw 24” beginning shortly after at 4pm. “You/We Does Draw 24” is an opportunity for interested persons to present drawings and receive feedback from fellow artists, lecturers and students.  

3. A 25th Anniversary Exhibition from December 9th to 15th. Featured artists for this exhibition include current and former lecturers including Ken Crichlow, Bruce Paddington, Akuzuru, Eddie Bowen, Deborah Clement and Elsa Clarke and alumni including Darron Small, Alicia Milne, Luis Vasquez, Tracey Chan, Sherlann Peters and many more.
