World Glaucoma Week 2013

There’s a burglar on the prowl and he’s right around the cornea; He’s called “the thief of sight,” The ubiquitous glaucoma. He’s silent, he’s invisible, and he’s neither heard nor seen; He’ll smash your precious window if you disregard the screen. He’s a slippery, dangerous felon, and he needs to be arrested, But it’s up to you to do it; Stop glaucoma, GET TESTED -Burglar On The Prowl by Sylvanus Barnes, Antigua/Barbuda Glaucoma Support Group.

The UWI School of Ophthalmology in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Surgical Sciences and the Faculty of Medical Sciences hosts World Glaucoma Week from March 10th to 16th 2013.

The major events include:

Launch of both World Glaucoma Week (WGW) and the West Indian Society of Glaucoma Surgeons (WINGS)

11th March 2013

Persons Associated with Visual Impairment (PAVI) sensitization session

This event will highlight the UWI’s recent partnering with PAVI and will give a history of PAVI and insight in to the work that they do. This session also aims to sensitize the audience about visual impairment and visually impaired persons.
