The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics (MLL) invites you to attend Postgraduate Research Seminars at Engineering Room 4. Below is the schedule of all three seminars: 

Seminar 1: 10am-11am, featuring Danielle Watson (PhD candidate – Linguistics) on the topic “Power Relationships in the Dive: A Study of Labeling, Stigmatizing & Stereotyping in a Suburban Low Income Sector in Trinidad.” ·        

Seminar 2: 11am-noon, featuring Kellon Sankar (MPhil candidate – Linguistics) on the topic “Hall Speak: A Study of Lexical Borrowing on halls of Residence at UWI, St. Augustine.” ·        

Seminar 3: 2pm-3pm, featuring Byron Jones (PhD candidate – Linguistics) on the topic, “Beyond Di Riddim: The Evolution of Language Use Patterns in Jamaican Popular Music 1962-2012.” (Via Skype)
